COMPANY INFO

Amazing Herbs was founded in 1990 and is based in Buford, Georgia. It is considered one of the pioneers of the black seed oil market globally and was the first company to introduce black seed oil in the United States. The founder faced a long and challenging journey to bring an unfamiliar product to the public, working tirelessly to educate consumers and encourage word-of-mouth awareness.

Today, Amazing Herbs stands as one of the largest supplement providers in the U.S., offering an extensive product line manufactured in an FDA-registered facility. The company supplies thousands of stores and markets across the country, with black seed oil continuing to be its flagship product.

● On March 20, 2025, we reached out via email requesting information about their oil, including any available analyses and supporting materials. We received no response. All data regarding this brand’s oil was gathered through independent research using publicly available online sources.

It is worth noting that only three companies responded to our inquiry: Piping Rock, Bionatal, and Prime Natural.

PACKING AND SAFETY SEAL

The packaging consists of a standard amber glass bottle with a plastic cap, commonly used by most black seed oil suppliers in the U.S. market. It also features a typical transparent shrink wrap. Notably, there is no inner liner inside the cap. Instead, a thick foil seal is firmly applied to the bottle’s neck.

● This foil seal is strong and secure enough to prevent leakage, even during hot weather conditions when the oil can expand by up to 20% during transportation.

SEEDS ORIGIN

There are two sources that claim the Amazing Herbs Egyptian black seed oil is made of Egyptian seeds: official website and the label.

OIL DISCRIPTION

The oil has a golden color with a pleasant, mild medicinal aroma and a unique floral flavor, without any bitterness.

In our opinion, it closely resembles other Egyptian black seed oils such as those from Bionatal and Shea Terra, with only subtle differences.

An interesting observation from our team of testers revealed the following distinctions:

  • Amazing Herbs (Egyptian): Medicinal aroma, golden color, no bitterness.

  • Bionatal (Egyptian): Light spicy medicinal aroma, golden color, slight bitterness.

  • Shea Terra (Egyptian): Light spicy medicinal aroma, lighter golden color, no bitterness.

THYMOQUINONE (TQ)

The product label indicates a minimum thymoquinone (TQ) level of 0.6%, which is comparable to other Egyptian black seed oils. Among the brands reviewed, only Bionatal has publicly shared its certificate of analysis for TQ content*:

  • Bionatal (Egyptian) – up to 1.15%

  • Shea Terra (Egyptian) – 0.45%

According to an official from the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, variations in crop potency are normal and primarily influenced by water sources. While some farms benefit from proximity to the Nile River, others located deeper in the desert rely on groundwater from wells. These differences can slightly affect the potency of the Nigella sativa seeds grown in the region.

Industry Clarifications:

(The following industry points are worth noting)

  • "Unrefined" ≠ Non-Filtered: Even unrefined oils are typically filtered and don’t contain seed particles.

  • "Cold Press" misuse on the label: The term is widely used without proof. True cold pressing should be validated by testing for compounds like Benzo(a)pyrene and related PAHs.

  • "Organic" ≠ Pesticide-Free: USDA standards still allow natural pesticides (§§ 205.601 - 205.602). No Nigella sativa seeds are entirely free from them.

  • "Non-GMO" claims are unnecessary: Nigella sativa is not genetically modified, and global demand doesn’t justify GMO cultivation.

FINAL RANKING #6-B

Positions #1 and #2 in our ranking are firmly held by the world’s most potent black seed oils—both extracted from Ethiopian Nigella sativa seeds.

Position #3 (sub-positions A through D) includes Turkish black seed oils that are slightly more bitter than other Turkish-sourced options, giving them a modest edge in strength.

Position #4 (sub-positions A through E) consists of Turkish oils with a medium level of bitterness. Despite thorough testing, these brands showed no significant differences in flavor or potency.

Position #5 (sub-positions A through C) is assigned to Turkish black seed oils with mild bitterness and no distinguishing characteristics—even after deeper evaluation.

Position #6, the lowest in our ranking, is reserved for Egyptian black seed oils. These oils tend to lack bitterness, flavor, and aroma, placing them behind even the mildest Turkish oils in terms of strength and overall quality.

Within this group, Amazing Herbs Egyptian earns sub-position “B.” While it has no noticeable bitterness, it does offer a unique medicinal flavor that distinguishes it slightly from Shea Terra’s Egyptian oil. However, it still falls behind Bionatal Egyptian, which holds sub-position “A” due to its higher thymoquinone (TQ) content and a slightly stronger bitter profile.
