AMAZING HERBS PREMIUM

COMPANY INFO

Amazing Herbs was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Buford, Georgia. It is widely regarded as a pioneer in the global black seed oil market and is recognized as the first company to introduce black seed oil in the United States. The founder undertook a long and challenging journey to bring this then-unknown product to the public, working hard to educate consumers and generate awareness.

Today, Amazing Herbs is one of the largest dietary supplement providers in the U.S., offering an extensive product line manufactured in an FDA-registered facility. The company supplies thousands of stores and markets across the country, with black seed oil remaining its signature product.

On March 20, 2025, we contacted the company via email requesting product details, including any available analyses and documentation. Unfortunately, we received no response. All information presented about this oil was obtained through independent online research.

It's worth noting that only three companies responded to our inquiry: Piping Rock, Bionatal, and Prime Natural.

PACKING AND SAFETY SEAL

The product comes in a standard amber glass bottle with a plastic cap, similar to those used by most black seed oil brands in the U.S. market. However, the cap is notably thin and broke when we attempted to reseal it after the first opening. It includes a standard transparent shrink wrap, but there is no inner liner beneath the cap. Instead, a thick foil seal is firmly adhered to the bottle neck.

● The seal is secure enough to prevent leakage — even under high temperatures, when the black seed oil may expand by up to 20% during transportation.

SEEDS ORIGIN

There are two sources indicating that Amazing Herbs Premium Black Seed Oil is made from Turkish Nigella sativa seeds: the company's official website and an Instagram posts by the owner, which includes photos of a black seed farm in Turkey.

OIL DISCRIPTION

The oil has a light yellow, slightly cloudy appearance, with a pleasant, mild herbal aroma and a medium level of bitterness.

In our opinion, it is virtually identical in color, flavor, bitterness, and overall taste to the oils offered by Zhou Nutrition, Piping Rock, Kiva, Heritage Store, Maju, and Sweet Sunnah Premium. Only minor differences were noted when compared to Freshfield, Healths Harmony, Rawya, and Rawya Extra Strong.

THYMOQUINONE (TQ)

The product label states a minimum thymoquinone (TQ) level of 1.2%, which is comparable to other Turkish black seed oil brands. While none of the companies mentioned have publicly provided certificates of analysis*, the following TQ levels are claimed:

  • Maju, Rawya, and Rawya Extra Strong – Minimum 2%

  • Sweet Sunnah Premium – 1.71%

  • Freshfield – 1.64%

  • Kiva and Prime Natural – Over 1.5%

According to experienced farmers, TQ levels can vary even among seeds from the same country. In Turkey, this variation is influenced by the elevation of the farms and regional climate differences. For instance, farms near the colder Black Sea coast in the north differ significantly from those along the much warmer Mediterranean coast in the south.

Industry Clarifications:

(The following industry points are worth noting)

  • "Unrefined" ≠ Non-Filtered: Even unrefined oils are typically filtered and don’t contain seed particles.

  • "Cold Press" misuse on the label: The term is widely used without proof. True cold pressing should be validated by testing for compounds like Benzo(a)pyrene and related PAHs.

  • "Organic" ≠ Pesticide-Free: USDA standards still allow natural pesticides (§§ 205.601 - 205.602). No Nigella sativa seeds are entirely free from them.

  • "Non-GMO" claims are unnecessary: Nigella sativa is not genetically modified, and global demand doesn’t justify GMO cultivation.

FINAL RANKING #4-A

Positions #1 and #2 in our ranking are firmly held by the world’s most powerful black seed oils — both made from Ethiopian Nigella sativa seeds.

Position #3 (sub-positions A, B, C, and D) is shared by several Turkish black seed oils that are slightly more bitter than the rest of the Turkish-sourced brands. This subtle increase in bitterness sets them apart, though they still fall short compared to Ethiopian oils.

Position #4 is occupied by the remaining Turkish black seed oil brands, all of which displayed a standard, medium level of bitterness with no significant differences detected — even after thorough testing. The only task left is assigning sub-positions within this category based on individual brand qualities.

Among these, Amazing Herbs earns sub-position “A” for being the most transparent company in this group. It is also the oldest brand supplying Turkish black seed oil to the U.S. market, with a long-standing reputation for consistent quality and potency.
