BIONATAL EGYPTIAN

COMPANY INFO
Bionatal was founded in 2017 by professionals with experience in oil extraction, health products, and consumer research. The company is headquartered in Edinburg, Texas, with an additional office in Germany that offers free worldwide shipping. Bionatal produces its oils both in the U.S. and at its dedicated facility in Egypt. The company specializes exclusively in seeded oils, with black seed oil as its flagship product.
● On March 20, 2025, we contacted Bionatal via email requesting oil information, including any available analyses and documentation. They responded the very next day, providing comprehensive details and granting permission to use content from their website, particularly blog articles developed through seven years of research and investigation.
We even had the opportunity to speak directly with the company’s co-owner, Rashid, who regularly appears in Bionatal’s videos on YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms. The company is exceptionally transparent—Bionatal is the only brand that publicly shares all test results and certificates of analysis on its website.
PACKING AND SAFETY SEAL
The oil comes in a branded bottle coated in sun-protective black matte paint, equipped with an aluminum cap and a standard inner liner. It features a black heavy-duty shrink wrap. While there is no foil seal on the bottle neck, it includes a silicone stopper that must be pushed inside—no corkscrew required.
●The silicone stopper is highly effective in preventing leaks, even under high temperatures when black seed oil can expand by up to 20% during transportation.

SEEDS ORIGIN
There are two sources that claim that Bionatal Egyptian black seed oil is made of Egyptian seeds: official website and the label.
OIL DISCRIPTION
The oil has a golden color, with a mild medicinal and spicy aroma, a distinct floral flavor, and a subtle herbal aftertaste. It carries a slight bitterness, which is characteristic of high-quality Egyptian oils.

In our assessment, this oil is very similar to other Egyptian black seed oils from Shea Terra and Amazing Herbs, with only minor differences noted.
An interesting observation from our team testers revealed the following distinctions:
-
Amazing Herbs (Egyptian): Medicinal aroma, golden color, no bitterness
-
Bionatal (Egyptian): Light spicy medicinal aroma, golden color, mild bitterness
-
Shea Terra (Egyptian): Light spicy medicinal aroma, light golden color, no bitterness
THYMOQUINONE (TQ)
The label indicates a TQ level of up to 1.15%, which is slightly higher than the values reported for other Egyptian black seed oil brands. Among these, Bionatal is the only company that publicly provides certificates of analysis for its TQ levels*:
-
Amazing Herbs (Egyptian) – Minimum 0.6%
-
Shea Terra (Egyptian) – 0.45%
This slightly higher TQ content may explain the mild bitterness present in Bionatal’s oil, which is absent in other Egyptian oils that tend to have a smoother, less bitter taste.
● According to an official from the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, variations in crop potency are expected due to water source differences across farms. While some farms near the Nile River use river water, those located deeper in the southern desert rely on groundwater from wells. These factors contribute to natural fluctuations in the quality and composition of Nigella sativa seeds grown in Luxor and Aswan regions.

Industry Clarifications:
(The following industry points are worth noting)
-
"Unrefined" ≠ Non-Filtered: Even unrefined oils are typically filtered and don’t contain seed particles.
-
"Cold Press" misuse on the label: The term is widely used without proof. True cold pressing should be validated by testing for compounds like Benzo(a)pyrene and related PAHs.
-
"Organic" ≠ Pesticide-Free: USDA standards still allow natural pesticides (§§ 205.601 - 205.602). No Nigella sativa seeds are entirely free from them.
-
"Non-GMO" claims are unnecessary: Nigella sativa is not genetically modified, and global demand doesn’t justify GMO cultivation.
FINAL RANKING #6-A
Positions #1 and #2 in our ranking are confidently held by the world’s most powerful black seed oils—both extracted from Ethiopian Nigella sativa seeds.
Position #3 (sub-positions A through D) is occupied by Turkish black seed oils that are slightly more bitter than other Turkish-sourced products, offering a modest advantage in potency.
Position #4 (sub-positions A through E) includes Turkish oils with a medium level of bitterness. Despite thorough testing, these brands showed no significant differences in taste or strength.
Position #5 (sub-positions A through C) is reserved for Turkish black seed oils with only mild bitterness and no distinguishable features, even after deeper evaluation.
Position #6 marks the lowest tier in our ranking and is assigned to Egyptian black seed oils. These oils lack the bitterness, flavor, and aroma typically expected from high-quality black seed oil, placing them below even the mildest Turkish oils in overall strength and potency.
Within this group, Bionatal Egyptian black seed oil earns sub-position “A” for having a higher thymoquinone (TQ) content, which results in a slightly more noticeable bitterness compared to other Egyptian oils—offering a small yet measurable advantage.
