COMPANY INFO

Bionatal was established in 2017 by professionals with backgrounds in oil extraction, health products, and consumer research. The company is based in Edinburg, Texas, with a European office in Germany that provides free worldwide shipping. Oil extraction takes place in the United States as well as at the company’s dedicated facility in Egypt. Bionatal focuses exclusively on seed-based oils, with black seed oil being its core product.

● On March 20, 2025, we contacted Bionatal via email requesting product information, including any available lab analyses and documentation. They responded the very next day, offering full transparency and granting permission to use content from their website, particularly blog articles developed over seven years of research. We also had a direct phone conversation with the company’s founder, Rashid, who features in all of Bionatal’s videos across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and others. Bionatal stands out as the only company that publicly shares all test results and certificates of analysis on its website.

PACKING AND SAFETY SEAL

The product comes in a branded glass square bottle coated with sun-protective black matte paint, topped with an aluminum cap featuring a first-time-use breakable aluminum ring. It includes a black heavy-duty shrink wrap, a plastic dropper insert in the bottle neck, and a plastic liner inside the cap with a closing mechanism for the dropper.

●The sealing system is highly secure and prevents leakage—even in high-temperature conditions, when black seed oil can expand by up to 20% during transport.

Additional Container Types Available:

  • 5 oz size in the same type of a square bottle

  • 4.2 oz standard pharmaceutical amber glass bottle with plastic cap and transparent shrink

  • 16 oz PET (plastic) bottle with internal plastic dropper, plastic cap, and a tamper-evident hologram sticker

SEEDS ORIGIN

According to all official sources provided by the company, the seeds used in this oil originate from Ethiopia. The company’s website specifies that the seeds come from a particular region known for its high-altitude farms at approximately 2,500 meters above sea level. This elevation is said to significantly enhance the potency of the seeds and increase their thymoquinone (TQ) content.

OIL DISCRIPTION

The oil has a bronze hue, which some describe as orange, and exhibits the strong, distinct aroma and taste typical of Ethiopian black seed oil. This intense profile is sometimes compared to motor oil or gasoline due to its sharpness.

It is also very bitter—in fact, it was rated as the most bitter among all oils tested by our Black Seed Oil Research Group members.

This is the only unfiltered black seed oil currently on the market, containing visible powdered seed sediment in each container. This unfiltered form provides the full natural composition of the oil and contributes to its enhanced potency.

When the bottle is shaken to mix the sediment into the oil, the liquid turns completely black, and all sensory characteristics — aroma, flavor, taste, and bitterness — are noticeably intensified.

THYMOQUINONE (TQ)

The product label claims a TQ level of “up to 4.64%”, and official lab analysis results are available on the company’s website (Analysis and Certificates page). According to the owner, the company conducted a five-year study, testing black seeds from farms at various elevations across Ethiopia.

Seeds from lower elevation farms consistently showed TQ levels between 1.5% and 3%, while seeds from high-elevation farms — over five consecutive harvests — produced TQ levels ranging from a minimum of 3.56% to a maximum of 4.64%.

This extensive testing is the basis for the “up to 4.64%” figure printed on the label. Notably, even the lowest TQ level from these high-altitude Ethiopian farms exceeds that of any other black seed variety known globally.

Industry Clarifications:

(The following industry points are worth noting)

  • "Unrefined" ≠ Non-Filtered: Even unrefined oils are typically filtered and don’t contain seed particles.

  • "Cold Press" misuse on the label: The term is widely used without proof. True cold pressing should be validated by testing for compounds like Benzo(a)pyrene and related PAHs.

  • "Organic" ≠ Pesticide-Free: USDA standards still allow natural pesticides (§§ 205.601 - 205.602). No Nigella sativa seeds are entirely free from them.

  • "Non-GMO" claims are unnecessary: Nigella sativa is not genetically modified, and global demand doesn’t justify GMO cultivation.

FINAL RANKING #1

There’s no doubt that Bionatal Ethiopian black seed oil stands out as the strongest and highest quality option on the market. Bionatal’s unmatched transparency is backed by publicly available lab analyses (Analysis and Certificates page), along with detailed video and photo reports documenting every step of the process—from sourcing seeds in Ethiopia to the final cold-press extraction in the USA.

The exceptional potency of the oil is the result of five years of dedicated research. During this time, Bionatal identified the best Ethiopian farms that meet all the key conditions needed for high thymoquinone (TQ) content: proximity to the equator, farm elevation, and optimal harvest seasons.

What truly sets Bionatal apart is that it’s the only unfiltered black seed oil available. The presence of powdered seeds at the bottom of the bottle adds to its strength and therapeutic potential. These unique qualities firmly place Bionatal at the top of the market, creating a noticeable gap even between it and the second-best, Shea Terra Ethiopian oil.
